For staging, we utilize a CT scan of the abdomen to pinpoint the primary tumor and potential sites of spread, and an X-ray or CT of the chest to check for lung involvement.
In a recent case involving a 60-year-old patient, I discovered an enlarged uterus with a suspicious ovarian tumor and a tumor deposit near the liver. During surgery, additional small deposits were found in the omentum. A frozen section biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of cancer, leading us to perform a comprehensive cancer surgery.
We successfully removed the uterus along with both tubes and ovaries, the tumor deposit near the liver, the omentum, and pelvic and para-aortic lymph nodes. This meticulous approach allowed us to achieve an R0 resection.
